Today I had the honor to visit the National Library of Belarus – it is a unique, beautiful building built in the form of a rhombo-cubo-octahedron. It is popularly called “diamond”.

Vadim Gigin, Director General of the National Library, deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, and other colleagues discussed the issues of preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War.

At the round table “Preservation of Memory by Means of Cinema: Role, Challenges and Prospects in Preserving the Historical Truth about the War”, which was held in the framework of the film forum “Echo “Eurasia-Kinofest” and the movement “Victory 9/45”, he made proposals:

🔹 Organize digital education campaigns on social networks and media.

🔹 Create a National Digital Archive of films and documents. Digitize Soviet and Russian films with military themes and make them available on an open online platform. Add historical references to the films.

🔹 Launch a joint film festival of patriotic cinema for young people with Belarus.

We should use new media formats to tell young people about important historical events.
