In the city of Kara-Balta, a large-scale photo collection action “Victory Marathon” was held, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War.
The event gathered more than 500 city residents and guests wishing to pay tribute to the heroes and participants of the Great Patriotic War.
The action was organized by the patriotic movement “Victory 9/45” with the support of ANO “Eurasia” and Kara-Balta City Hall.
This is the first time that a large-scale action “Victory Marathon” has been held in Kyrgyzstan. Youth, schoolchildren and city residents actively participated in it. More than 100 archival materials were collected during the campaign – photos, documents and even letters from the war years of grandmothers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers, accompanied by brief stories or memories of the exploits of those who showed loyalty to the Motherland.
Venera Bolgonbayeva, a resident of Kara-Balta, shared a touching story about her father, who went to the front when he was very young.
“He went to the front when he was only 19 years old, a very young guy. But my mom always said my dad was a real patriot. We must remember this great date – May 9. It is the memory of those who, at the cost of their lives, gave us the opportunity to live and enjoy a peaceful life. Every year on this day I remember my father and all those who sacrificed themselves for our freedom. Their memory lives in our hearts, and it is our responsibility to pass that memory on to the next generation so that they, too, may know the price at which our peace was won. We must honor their feat and remember that peace is the most important thing we have,” said Venera Bolgonbaeva.
All collected materials will be digitized and used to create a commemorative collection. A special atmosphere was created by the performances of creative groups, which sang songs and poems of the war years.
As Boris Chernyshov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the patriotic movement “Victory 9/45”, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, noted, the historical truth must be fought for.
“The Victory 9/45 movement is not words. These are deeds that we do right now and every day. We advocate that May 9 should remain Victory Day not only in Russia, but also throughout Eurasia, in the countries that fought against Nazism shoulder to shoulder. Our movement unites people from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Moldova, Serbia, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Spain, France. We know that in each of these countries there are those who keep the memory. Who want to keep in touch with the generation of winners. Who are not ashamed of their history, but are proud of it. Because without the Victory – there would be no future”, – said Boris Chernyshov.
