Every day of the war was marked by feats, every soldier, every home front worker contributed to the victory.

There are countless examples of heroism.
Pilots, ramming enemy planes, infantrymen, covering the embrasure of a machine gun with their bodies, tankers, knocking down enemy tanks at the cost of their lives, partisans, blowing up bridges and derailing enemy trains – they are all heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of the Motherland.
On the home front, women, the elderly and children, working to exhaustion, showed no less heroism. They spared no effort to provide the front with everything necessary.
Their self-sacrifice and heroism is what allowed the Soviet people to withstand the most terrible war in the history of mankind and win the Victory.
