The front was far from Uzbekistan, but the republic made a huge contribution to the victory over Nazism.

The pain of loss and the joy of victory were reflected in the war films of the Soviet era.

The film “I Remember You” (1985) is one of the touching films dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, shot in the Uzbek SSR.

“The film is based on real events,” said director Ali Khamrayev. – My father died at the front near Vyazma in 1942. In the winter of 1973, I went to the Smolensk region to find my father’s grave. I found it in a tiny village and took with me a handful of frozen earth. And then I vowed to make a film about this journey.
