Today, 6 April, the city of Orhei celebrated the 81st anniversary of its liberation from the Romanian-German fascist occupation. On this memorable day, residents honoured the feat of Soviet soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom of their native land.
The solemn events began with a march, in which the banner of the “Victory 9/45” movement was carried, followed by a rally at the mass grave of the fallen heroes. The participants honoured their memory with a minute’s silence and laid flowers at the memorials.
The ceremony was attended by:
– the head of Orhei district Vasily Adashan;
– Mayor of Orhei city Tatiana Cocciu;
– Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Ozerov;
– Members of Parliament: Vadim Fotescu, Regina Apostolova and Vasile Bolia;
– Alexander Tihman, a representative of the search team “August”;
– city residents, veterans and young people.
The meeting ended with a waltz to the songs of the Soviet years.
