On June 26, 1941, Kurban Durdy received a very responsible combat assignment: together with his squad to make a reconnaissance of enemy forces and means and capture prisoners.
“While on reconnaissance, Kurban Durdy encountered the enemy as part of a platoon. In the dark night, Kurban Durdy opened hurricane fire on him. 11 German-Romanian soldiers were killed, three were wounded, the rest were taken prisoner,” – an excerpt from the hero’s personal file.
After the war, Kurban Durdy became the director of the Museum of History of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
