May 9, 1945 – the whole country, holding its breath, froze at the radio receivers. The very same voice rang out:
“The Great Patriotic War … is victoriously concluded. Germany is completely defeated!”
Yuri Levitan’s voice heralded the Great Victory. At that moment, millions of people cried with happiness, hugged each other and ran out into the streets shouting, “Victory!”
Today we hear the echoes of that historic message. We remember the price our grandfathers and great-grandfathers paid for this day. We keep the memory of every soldier, every home front worker, every child of the war.
Eternal glory to the heroes!
